Cedar Doors make proper timber doors that suit a period property, and they automate perfectly well, though a side hinged pair needs a supplementary hinge kit at £80 plus VAT.

On the narrower plots, particularly the Victorian and Edwardian streets, headroom and side room are often the constraint rather than the door itself.
